Privacy policy
We keep as little as we can, and never sell it.

Who is responsible
Read at Sight is responsible for your data. Write to [email protected] about anything on this page.
What we keep
Without an account we keep nothing about you. With an account:
- Your account: Your email address; a name if you give one; your Google account number if you sign in with Google; your settings; whether you want our emails.
- Signing in: When you asked for a sign-in email, from which internet address and browser; your signed-in devices (browser, when last used).
- Your progress: Which pages you opened and which you marked done.
- Your plan: Your plan from Paddle: which one, until when, whether it was cancelled or refunded. Never your card.
- PDF downloads: Which book you downloaded and when, for the daily limit. The PDF is stamped with your email address and kept for 7 days so you can download it again.
We don't ask for a password: we email you a sign-in link and code instead, and keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy of them and of your signed-in sessions.
Why
- To give you the course you signed up or paid for (our contract with you).
- To keep the site and your account safe, and to stop abuse (our legitimate interest).
- To send you our weekly exercise or news, only if you say yes; you can stop them with one click (your consent).
Cookies
One cookie: __Host-ras_session, which keeps you signed in. It is needed for the site to work, so there is no cookie banner. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your browser, not sent to us. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies; if we count visits, we do it without cookies and without building a profile of you.
Who helps us
These services handle some of your data for us, only for what is listed, under contracts that protect it.
| Service | What it does | Its privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Paddle | Takes payments as the merchant of record: your payment details, address and receipts stay with Paddle. | paddle.com |
| Cloudflare | Carries the site to you securely and protects it from attacks; sees your internet address. | cloudflare.com |
| Resend | Sends our emails: sign-in links and account messages. | resend.com |
| Only if you choose "Sign in with Google": confirms your Google account and email address. | policies.google.com | |
| Our backup storage | Keeps copies of our database, away from our own servers, for 30 days. | – |
How long
- Sign-in links and codes: one day.
- Stamped PDFs: 7 days.
- Your account and progress: until you delete the account. Then everything is gone from our database within 30 days, and from our backups 30 days after that.
- Paddle keeps payment records as the tax laws it follows require.
Your rights
You can see, download, correct and delete your data. From your account page: one button gives you everything we hold about you as a file, another deletes your account at once (cancel a plan that still renews first). For anything else, or to object to how we use your data, write to us. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Age
Accounts are for people aged 16 or over.
If something goes wrong
If your data is ever exposed, we tell the authorities within 72 hours and tell you without delay if it puts you at risk.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we tell you by email before it does. See also the terms.
